Your newborn, at-home shoot
Everything you need to know
Your at-home shoot is happening soon!
Here are some pointers to help you know what to expect on the day.
You and your home
CLOTHING:
the #1 question I'm asked is “what should I wear?" There are no rules - colours, back & white, stripes or patterns, it all works. What's key is that it's something that you feel comfortable in. Choose clothes that make you feel good and that you can move freely in as we'll likely take shots standing, sitting and moving around.
LIGHTING:
I shoot using natural light so in the days running up to our session, you might want to notice where in your house gets good light at the time we’ll be shooting. Don't panic if you’re not able to do this, it's the first thing I'll look for when I arrive.
TIDYING:
Your house doesn't need to be immaculate and there's no pressure to tidy everywhere! We'll find little corners or pockets for good shots and I'm very used to quickly moving things out of shot as I work. If you have favourite spots, feel free to declutter in advance.
NERVES:
It’s natural to feel a bit nervous in advance! But don’t worry, you don’t need to ‘know how to pose’, we will keep everything feeling relaxed and I’ll be able to give you guidance on the day.

FEEDING:
Ideally you’ll be able to give your baby a big feed before the shoot starts to help them feel content. At any point in the shoot we can pause to feed (or continue shooting if you’re comfortable as this can be a nice moment to capture).
SLEEPING:
Don't worry if your baby sleeps through the whole shoot! Peacefully sleeping babies make perfect subjects.
PROPS:
Moses baskets, neutral coloured blankets and large muslins can be good to incorporate into newborn shoots. They’re not essential but if you do have these items, it’s worth getting them out for our session.
Bigger kids and four-legged friends
PETS:
The whole family can be a part of this shoot, whether they have two legs or four!
SNACKS:
Feel free to bring an array of snacks, I know from experience children are hungry little humans so more than happy for snack breaks!
